Where did our Summer go? Autumn already and what’s new in TVP?
I’m sharing a fun study of our most important physical resource… our Bible, God’s Word; that we too easily take for granted. Do you have one, or more? How many? Which version(s)? What’s the difference between them? What is the LXX & MT? Would I be prepared to die so others could read it? Who said, “the ‘spectacle of the scriptures being put to the torch’…’provoked controversy even amongst the faithful.’” Where does the “Book of Kells” fit in… and I know about Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, but where are the “Lindisfarne Gospels” and Luke Volume II? If I lived around the late 16th Century, would I seek out the Bishops’ Bible or the Geneva Bible? Why, and does it matter today? Was the original Genesis written as one word? Who said of who, “I have been bereaved of the best friend of my life… who, if it has been so ordained, would willingly have shared not only my poverty, but also my death.” and would you? Was the work in vain of the one who said, “…if God spares my life, before many years, I will cause the boy that drives the plough to know more of the Scriptures than you do!”
Join in the fun on October Wednesday nights with the many who have already booked their places on this exciting journey, and let us know that you are onboard via our TVP e-mail.

TVP Bible Odyssey series is running for six weeks from Wednesday 2 October as part of the TVP Christian Education programme and ending on Wednesday 6 November.
I love God's word and meeting with Him through the Spirit when I read it. So, what do we know about the journey of God's breathed words that are now printed in our Bible. It is fascinating to the curious, as there are many different aspects, and over the past decade I have written a book on the Bible's journey from the beginning to now.
As part of our TVP Christian Education programme, we shall be running a six week series exploring that Bible journey under the title "TVP Bible Odyssey".
A typical evening will include:
- exploring an illuminating insight (my value-add);
- meeting a Bible great like Jerome, Wycliffe and Tyndale;
- watching a short Bible-oriented video;
- discovering a Bible background aspect subject, e.g., Bible shape, Bible text evolution and languages, where the Bible source text comes from, a dip into the challenges of Bible translation, why there are so many different versions, and the huge subject of Bible resources.
The series will run from Wednesday 2 October, weekly, and so finish on November 6. Like Christianity Explored and Discipleship Explored-it's Bible Explored-my intention is each evening would last about an hour from 7.30pm, with light refreshments beforehand from 7pm. We suspect that due to numbers we would hold it in Cranstoun.
It would be brilliant to have you join us on this exciting journey, so if you are interested, then please let me know via TVP e-mail.
